Quick verdict

Textmagic is a flexible, prepaid messaging platform with no required monthly plan, a broad inbox and unlimited users, which makes it attractive for low-volume texting. RealtyCoworker is the better choice for real estate agents and brokers who want leads worked for them: Voice AI answers calls, missed callers get a text back, appointments land on a built-in calendar, and real estate follow-up runs automatically. Textmagic Has Grown Beyond Texting

Textmagic started as a simple way to send texts from a computer, and it still does that well, including email-to-SMS. Today its inbox also handles WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram chats, email, live chat and inbound and outbound calls, with tasks, sales pipelines, unlimited users and iOS and Android apps.

That makes it a fairer fight than most texting apps. The question is less “can it do this” and more “how much of a real estate agent’s day does it handle without you”.

The Part-Time Agent Math

Textmagic’s biggest strength is its pricing model. As of October 2026, US outbound texts are $0.049 each on pay-as-you-go, incoming texts are free, a local number is $10 per month, and US local numbers also carry a monthly 10DLC campaign renewal fee. Credit never expires on pay-as-you-go, and a Professional monthly plan lowers the per-text rate.

For a part-time agent sending 200 texts a month, that is roughly $10 in texts plus the number and registration fees. RealtyCoworker Essentials is $99 per month before usage, so for texting alone Textmagic is clearly cheaper.

The math flips with volume and scope. RealtyCoworker’s text rate is $0.0166 per segment on Essentials, about a third of Textmagic’s pay-as-you-go rate, so the gap narrows as volume grows. More importantly, the $99 covers a CRM, booking calendar, email marketing, websites and review requests that you would otherwise pay for separately. See both plans.

A Full-Time Agent's Tuesday in Brick

9:00 AM: a buyer consult. 10:30 AM: a showing. Noon: an inspection. In those three hours, two leads call and one texts about a listing on Mantoloking Road.

With Textmagic, the calls ring your Textmagic number and you return them later, and the text waits in the inbox. AI reply suggestions and chat summaries help when you sit down to answer, which is useful, but the work waits for you.

With RealtyCoworker, the Voice AI answers both calls, tells callers it is an AI assistant, collects what they need and offers a time on your booking calendar, which sends confirmations and reminders. If you would rather take calls yourself, missed-call text back replies within moments. The texter gets a reply from Conversation AI that asks your qualifying questions, and it never makes up prices or showing availability.

Features Head to Head

Both tools give you a shared inbox, contact records, tags, segments, bulk texting, scheduled messages, opt-out handling and automation workflows. Textmagic adds SMS surveys, carrier lookup, email-to-SMS, single sign-on and virtual numbers in more than 30 countries, which helps if you work with international buyers.

RealtyCoworker adds what is specific to real estate: ready-made buyer inquiry, seller inquiry, open house, closing review and anniversary automations, a pipeline with your own stages, such as new lead, appointment set and under contract, a social planner, and websites and funnels. Live MLS or IDX search is not included out of the box and needs an authorized connection.

Setup and Compliance

Both require US carrier registration before you text from a local number. Textmagic says brand and campaign registration typically takes 2 to 7 business days, and it has a native 10DLC registration flow. RealtyCoworker handles A2P registration inside the account, and fees may apply.

Textmagic is quick to learn because you can start small. RealtyCoworker has more to set up, and Lift Off includes done-for-you setup of the pipeline, calendar, forms, phone number, follow-up, reminders and review requests, plus 1:1 onboarding.

Which One Should You Pick?

If you text a few hundred people a month and want no subscription, Textmagic is hard to beat. If you are a full-time agent or a team losing leads to missed calls and slow replies, RealtyCoworker is the better investment.
